Welcome to 3G1V!
Here at 3G1V, we are committed to relieving our communities of the burden of Styrofoam waste. We believe that recycling is necessary to save our planet's sensitive ecosystem and we are dedicated to reducing the carbon foot print that Americans will leave behind for future generations.
With 1,885,200,000 pounds of Styrofoam produced each year and the lack of knowledge about recycling Styrofoam, 3G1V hopes to educate and cut the costs of shipping dirty Styrofoam to a waste landfill by offering the more economical option of recycling.
Out of the 3 million tons of Styrofoam produced in the US each year 2.3 millions tons of it end up in our landfills and waterways. Styrofoam that ends up in our oceans breaks down into beads and forms a plastic soup which is then consumed by wildlife.
Styrofoam that is incinerated produces green house gases that are detrimental to the Earth's ozone layer. 20 to 30% of all landfill waste is Styrofoam.
Styrofoam does not biodegrade. It photodegrades....If Styrofoam is buried in a landfill it cannot photodegrade and most will still be in landfills 500 years from now. Styrofoam in landfills also creates greenhouse gases.
